Second Stop - Reshape your Workforce with Agile
The biggest challenge for an organization can be re-shaping
their workforce, targeting on how they can make a more adaptive workforce by
using predictive intelligence, how to secure talent from evolving sources, and
reskilling current workers for their future. Through an agile and targeted
approach to workforce planning, organizations can reduce costs and increase
productivity. (Deas, 2017)
The best example is Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company, who
did the same thing. Ford introduced the Moving Assembly line to capitalize on gigantic automation and a population that
was increasingly urban, rather than rural. At last, he managed to reduce employee’s
turnover and created an entire market for himself. All the while, he created
work principles still in use today. (Anon., n.d.)
To be the competitor,
- Build a workforce formed by insights
Investing in Predictive
Intelligence that places the foundation for enhanced decisions, supports a
more agile workforce and is scalable across the business. These insights
provide a valuable map to guide significant enterprise transformations and
answer key strategic questions: How will you deliver your next product or
service? Do you have the workforce to deliver your growth agenda in a way that
bests your competition? How are you prioritizing your people during this
transformation? (Boyle, 2019)
- Expand the concept of a workforce
As predictive intelligence helps companies chart their
future workforce, boundary-less access to talent and new models of employment
help them source it. The new trend is hiring freelancers where bring the
flexibility to meet business goals, with the added advantage of scalability to meet
fluctuating demand. (Anon., 2016) From new digital
talent marketplaces and job sharing, to pooling talent with ecosystem partners,
enterprises now have a multitude of options for expanding their workforce model.
- Reskilling to create a sustainable workforce
This will support an organization to operate its existing
workers to withstand desired business outcomes in a digital world. Rather than
simply attracting workers, workforce strategies of the future need to be
incorporated with new methods of reskilling like robotics handles an increasing
percentage of the workload.
For example, Arizona State University (ASU) uses an adaptive learning platform that meets human instructors and technology for the betterment of both worlds. Than replacing instructors, they are occupied with them to offer students a personalized curriculum that adjusts in real-time through the learning platform. Instructors are free to spend more time supporting students and less time lecturing.
